Regional Gatherings

Regional Strategic Gatherings connect the work of the Appalachian Transition Fellowship to a wider participant base around opportunities in important economic sectors.   These sessions provide a space for people from non-profits, business, philanthropy, and educational groups throughout the region to share their work, and identify challenges and strategies to move the sector forward in Central Appalachia.

In 2017 the Appalachian Transition Fellowship will have two regional gatherings that will help deepen the connections and strengthen the relationships that the program has building in Central Appalachia over the past three years. The first of those gatherings will be in Benham, KY on May 17-18 where we'll focus on building local economies across sectors throughout Appalchia, share and learn what's happening in our communities and in the region, connect across issues and geography, and strategize with one another!

You can register for that event here:

In 2014-15, regional gatherings focused on three important areas that are providing opportunities for sustainable economic transition in the region: Food, Energy, and Alternative Economies.  We welcomed people and groups working in these areas to join the fellows and host communities in a regional gathering to convene various sectors throughout Appalachia who might not otherwise have an opportunity to talk and strategize (non-profit, government, business, etc.)
